A deadly car crash near Pingree Grove, Illinois claimed the life of a 5 year-old girl and seriously injured three others. The crash occurred on February 20, 2015 on Route 72, near Big Timber Road, when a 17 year-old driver headed eastbound on Route 72 lost control of his Mercedes sedan when approaching a curve in the road.
The young girl, Gabrielle Horvath, was a back seat passenger traveling westbound on Route 72 with her father when a Mercedes sedan struck their Toyota FJ Cruiser head-on after the Mercedes crossed over into the oncoming lane. After the initial impact, a third car rear-ended the Horvath vehicle. Gabrielle and her father were both rushed to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL where Gabrielle was pronounced dead.
