Chicago investigation centers on pedestrian fatality cause

A Chicago taxi driver told people who pulled him to safety that he tried to hit the brakes to prevent a recent car crash he was involved in. Nearby drivers saw the pedestrian accident -- a cab shooting through an intersection, striking a utility pole, flipping multiple times, slamming into a pedestrian and catching fire.

Megabus cites safety rating during Illinois bus crash probe

State police and federal transportation officials are trying to discover what caused a double-decker bus to crash into a bridge support near Litchfield in southern Illinois. The mass transit accident in early August killed a 25-year-old university student and injured nearly half of the more than 80 people on board.

Failure to Use Turn Signals Real Danger on the Roads

Distracted driving has received a great deal of attention lately. The U.S. Department of Transportation has worked hard to enlighten drivers about the danger of driving while distracted. But it turns out that an even greater danger to Illinois residents on the road involves drivers who refuse to use their turn signals.

Victims, stopped for deer, killed on Illinois interstate

A fatal truck accident near Mulberry Grove, Illinois, killed a woman and her elementary school-age daughters. An 18-wheeler smashed into the back of the woman's car when she stopped her Toyota Camry to allow deer to cross Interstate 70.

Accident victim's family settles Chicago suit for $3 million

A settlement amount of $3.25 million to be paid by the city of Chicago will never bring back the life of a little 4-year-old girl. However, the compensation to be paid to the child's family will hopefully be the first of many necessary arrangements that the city will be making to curtail its troubling pedestrian accident rates.

  4. "Easy to talk to"

Mr. Mathys and Mr. Schneid were very professional and easy to talk to. Prior to working with them, my wife and I had no real experience with the legal system beyond a house closing, yet Mr. Mathys and Mr. Schneid explained the whole process to us very well. I knew that whenever I had a concern about our case or the legal system in general I could call their office or send an email and receive answers the same day... -Larry
