Chicago Blue Line train derails, climbs escalator at O'Hare station

The team at the Law Offices of Mathys & Schneid is following news of a Chicago train derailment that resulted in 32 injuries this morning. Media reports indicate that a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line left the tracks at the O'Hare Airport station at about 2:50 a.m. It climbed up an escalator at end of the tracks. Photos of the accident show the end of a train car resting midway up the escalator, with debris scattered below.

Questions remain after DuPage pedestrian fatally struck by train

A recent evening commute in the Chicago area took an unexpected, tragic twist as a Metra train collided with a 30-year-old pedestrian crossing the tracks in Westmont. Emergency responders arrived at the scene of the mass transit accident, but weren't able to resuscitate the Illinois man.

A 54-year-old disabled man died when the bus in which he was riding struck a tree. A reconstruction team from the Illinois State Police will review how the O'Fallon bus accident occurred. Preliminary police reports indicate there was at least one medical emergency at the time of the fatal crash.

Dozens of children hurt in Illinois school bus crash

An Illinois school bus collision recently sent more than 40 injury victims to four different medical facilities near Chicago. A pickup truck crashed into the student-filled vehicle as the bus was travelling along a regular Monday morning pickup route. Driver negligence has not been determined.

Megabus cites safety rating during Illinois bus crash probe

State police and federal transportation officials are trying to discover what caused a double-decker bus to crash into a bridge support near Litchfield in southern Illinois. The mass transit accident in early August killed a 25-year-old university student and injured nearly half of the more than 80 people on board.

Illinois Central Railroad pays $6 million crash settlement

A train accident took the life of a Naperville-born dance teacher in the summer of 2010. A wrongful death lawsuit filed by the victim's parents recently settled out of court the night before a jury was scheduled to hear the case.

School bus driver complaints predated injury crash

None of the occupants of a school bus was seriously hurt when the vehicle skidded on its side across a Kane County cornfield. Sheriff's deputies and officials from Illinois Central School Bus are focused on the cause of the crash, including charges of driver negligence.

Man killed in Naperville train accident

The Naperville Police Department has issued a statement regarding the Sept. 30 mass transit accident that resulted in the death of a male pedestrian. The accident occurred just after 5:20 p.m. at a Naperville train station.
