Illinois cops start to use drones in car accident investigations

Car accident investigations in Illinois may be getting an upgrade. A Lake County crash response team has a new tool to investigate car accidents: drones. The investigators are some the first in the country to use drones to photograph accident scenes, giving them new insight into the causes of motor vehicle crashes.

6-Car Aurora Crash Critically Injures 2

On May 1, 2017, 6 cars were involved in a crash on Butterfield Road and DuPage Parkway in Aurora. Investigators determined that Terrence Rush, 22, tried to pass multiple cars eastbound on Butterfield Road by crossing over the center yellow line. A westbound driver swerved to avoid a head-on collision with Rush, but the two sideswiped one another. Rush then crashed head-on into a separate westbound vehicle, causing 3 other cars to pile up.

Mathys & Schneid Files Dooring Lawsuit in Chicago

On February 10, 2017, Mathys & Schneid filed a lawsuit in Cook County on behalf of a bicyclist against a driver who opened his car door directly into a bike lane and in front of our client, causing a collision with the door. The crash occurred on Kedzie Avenue and Montrose Avenue, in Chicago, Illinois on July 11, 2015. The lawsuit alleges that the car driver was negligent when he opened his door into traffic when it wasn't safe, didn't keep a lookout for cars or bicycles, and didn't warn traffic that he was about to open his door. The lawsuit also alleges that the resulting crash caused our client serious injuries, including a fractured clavicle, with a long recovery.

Three-Car Crash in Park Ridge Kills 1, Injures 2 Others

A major car crash in Park Ridge, Illinois, on February 11, 2016, resulted in the death of 1 driver and injury to 2 others. The crash occurred at the intersection of Dee and Talcott Roads, near Maine South High School. A Des Plaines woman, 81, was southbound on Dee Road and making a left turn onto Talcott Road when a Chicago woman, 43, headed northbound on Dee Road, crashed into her. The Chicago woman then crashed into another car on westbound Talcott Road, injuring a Skokie woman, 47.

More vehicles recalled due to Takata airbag problems

Three German carmakers announced the recall of 2.5 million cars in the United States. The affected vehicles have problematic Takata Corp. airbags, which run the risk of exploding and shooting metal fragments into the cars. So far, 24 million vehicles with Takata airbags have already been recalled since the issue was first made public in 2009.
