Motor vehicle accidents: Crash at intersection kills 2, injures 1

Drivers who fail to adhere to traffic lights or signs and heed right of way before crossing into an intersection run the risk of creating a potentially hazardous situation. Such a decision may leave other drivers with insufficient time to steer out of harm’s way and motor vehicle accidents resulting from similar scenarios can have cataclysmic outcomes. Two people have died and a third suffered critical injuries during a recent collision that took place at an intersection in Illinois.

According to reports, Illinois State Police responded to the scene of the crash on a recent Saturday morning. An initial investigation indicates that the incident took place as one driver was attempting to turn east at the intersection. His vehicle reportedly proceeded to collide head-on with a nearby car shortly thereafter.

Authorities have advised that the driver of the first vehicle and a passenger in the second were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the second vehicle was reportedly taken to a medical facility via helicopter for treatment of injuries considered to be life-threatening. No further details were provided as to what might have caused the crash to occur, as the investigation reportedly remains underway.

Those who lose loved ones or suffer severe injuries in motor vehicle accidents may find the experience difficult to accept, especially if the incident comes as the result of another party’s actions. Following such an incident, the victim or surviving family members of the deceased could choose to speak with an attorney for guidance in seeking accountability through the civil justice system. An attorney can evaluate the accident and assist a client in Illinois in preparing to pursue the compensation to which he or she is entitled to receive.
