Motor vehicle accidents: Rear-end crash in Illinois proves fatal

On Behalf of | Mar 3, 2020 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

Drivers who fail to allow sufficient space between their vehicles and others nearby might not always be fully prepared to react to certain scenarios. Motor vehicle accidents that take place when a vehicle crashes into the rear-end of another car can prompt a chain reaction of events that places the safety of those involved in jeopardy. One person has died following a recent rear-end collision that forced a vehicle to crash through a barrier and erupt into flames in Illinois.

Authorities say they responded to reports of the crash just after 2 a.m. on a recent Friday. According to reports, the incident occurred when for reasons unknown, the driver of a car suddenly crashed into the rear-end of a nearby vehicle on a local interstate. The impact of the crash forced the second vehicle to crash through concrete barriers and become engulfed in flames after crossing onto nearby railroad tracks.

Authorities say that the driver of the second vehicle suffered fatal injuries and passed away at the scene of the crash. They also say that impairment appears to have been a contributing factor in the incident. Although an investigation into the crash is underway, no further information was provided as to whether any charges are pending against the driver who caused the accident.

Motor vehicle accidents involving the presence of impairment have the unfortunate chance of leaving family members grieving over an unexpected loss. Following such an incident, the surviving loved ones of the victim could choose to speak with an experienced attorney for guidance on their available legal avenues. Such advice could help a person in Illinois better prepare to pursue the restitution entitled through a wrongful death claim against the party deemed at fault.
