With the high rate of speed at which vehicles travel on the interstate, even one minor error in judgment or a slight deviation in direction could prove disastrous. Motor vehicle accidents that occur at excessive speeds also run a greater risk of leaving those involved with long-term or permanent injuries, or worse. A 57-year-old man was killed during a recent accident that took place on an interstate in Illinois.
According to reports, the accident took place just before 8 p.m. on a recent Tuesday. According to initial investigations, the man was driving northbound on a local interstate when another vehicle suddenly crashed into his car and forced it to veer off the road and strike a concrete barrier. A third vehicle struck his car shortly thereafter and the impact on this crash caused the car to overturn and come to a rest upside down.
Emergency responders say they rushed the man to a nearby hospital for treatment of severe injuries but say he passed way shortly after arriving at the facility. While the driver who caused the crash also suffered injuries, no further information was provided as to the nature of his or her condition. Authorities have advised that charges have yet to be filed, as the investigation into the crash remains underway.
Fatal motor vehicle accidents can be devastating incidents that may leave surviving family members reeling over the unexpected loss of someone close. Following such a loss, the family of the deceased may wish to seek accountability through the civil justice system and they could choose to retain the services of an attorney for guidance in the process. Such advice could help a person in Illinois better prepare to pursue the full amount of restitution deserved through a claim against the party deemed at fault.
