Motor vehicle accidents: Head-on crash kills 3, injures several

Three people have died and several others suffered injuries in a recent collision that took place after a vehicle suddenly strayed into the oncoming lanes of traffic in Illinois. While there are a variety of circumstances in which such a collision could occur, in some cases it may take as little as a moment of inattention on the part of a driver for a vehicle to veer off course. Motor vehicle accidents of this nature run the unfortunate risk of leaving those involved with life-altering injuries, or leaving families mourning over an untimely loss.

Illinois State Police have advised that they received reports of the crash at around 3 a.m. on a recent Sunday morning. According to reports, the crash occurred when for unknown reasons, the driver of a car crossed the median and shifted into the opposite lanes of traffic. The car proceeded to hit a nearby limousine head-on and the impact of the crash caused at least one of the vehicles to erupt in flames.

Authorities say both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Several passengers within the limousine suffered injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities also advised that one of these passengers reportedly passed away shortly after arriving at the facility.

Those who suffer severe injuries or lose loved ones in motor vehicle accidents involving a negligent driver may wish to know more about their available options for legal recourse. Since the civil justice system can be complex, a person in Illinois could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney early on for guidance. An attorney can work toward helping a client prepare to pursue the full amount of restitution to which he or she is entitled to receive.
