Motor vehicle accidents: 2 injured after semi runs red light

On Behalf of | Nov 27, 2019 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

Drivers who fail to adhere to a traffic light upon approaching an intersection run a greater risk of creating a dangerous scenario. Motor vehicle accidents involving similar circumstances could leave those involved with life-altering injuries or leave family members grieving over a sudden and unexpected loss. Two individuals suffered serious injuries in a recent collision in which the driver of a tractor-trailer ran through a red light in Illinois.

The accident is said to have taken place on a recent Sunday just after 6 p.m. Law enforcement agents have advised that it occurred when the driver of a tractor-trailer failed to stop for a red light upon approaching an intersection. The truck reportedly struck a nearby vehicle after entering the intersection and then proceeded to roll into a third vehicle shortly thereafter.

Emergency responders reported that the driver and a passenger in the second vehicle both suffered serious injuries in the crash. Police have also stated that the driver of the tractor-trailer was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. While it remains unclear as to why the man may have failed to stop at the traffic light, an investigation into the crash is reportedly underway.

In addition to physical pain and suffering, motor vehicle accidents could also leave those involved with a variety of financial challenges. Those who encounter such hardships due to the negligent actions of another party could choose to speak with a personal injury attorney for guidance on their available options for legal recourse. This type of advice could help a person in Illinois better prepare to pursue the full amount of restitution deserved through a civil claim against the party or parties deemed responsible.
