Motor vehicle accidents: 2 killed in head-on crash

On Behalf of | Oct 17, 2019 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

The untimely loss of someone close is something no family should have to endure. Those who lose loved ones in motor vehicle accidents may find the experience difficult to accept, especially when the loss comes at the hand of another party’s negligent actions. Two individuals have died following a recent multiple-vehicle accident that is said to have taken place in Illinois.

According to reports, law enforcement agents responded to the scene of the crash at around 11 p.m. on a recent Thursday. Authorities say the accident took place when the driver of a car crossed into oncoming lanes while attempting to pass a tractor-trailer. The car reportedly proceeded to collide head-on with an oncoming van and the impact of the crash forced the first car to spin out of control and slam into the side of the tractor-trailer shortly thereafter.

Police have advised that the driver of the van and a passenger in the first vehicle were both pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The driver who caused the crash was also taken to a medical facility for treatment of serious injuries. While an investigation into the incident is underway, no further information was provided as to what might have caused the driver to attempt such a maneuver.

Fatal motor vehicle accidents can be devastating incidents that may leave surviving loved ones in search of answers. Those who endure such a loss due to the actions of another party may wish to exercise their rights to seek accountability through the civil justice system, but they might need assistance in navigating the process. Fortunately, there are attorneys in Illinois who can examine the incident and assist a person in pursuing the restitution deserved through a wrongful death claim.
