Fatal Single-Car Crash in Bartlett Kills Two

On Behalf of | Apr 16, 2018 | Car Accidents

On April 8, 2018, in Bartlett, Illinois, two people were killed when their car left the road and struck a utility pole. Authorities say that the driver of the car, Darion Garner, age 25, was traveling with six other people when he lost control of his 2005 Ford Escape near the intersection of Lake Street and Route 20, near the Route 59 overpass.

Garner and a passenger, Latasha Lawson, age 31, both of Streamwood, Illinois, were pronounced dead. The other five people in the car were taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital and St. Alexius Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Lake Street was closed by the police for accident reconstruction and further investigation, which is ongoing.

Drivers are responsible to their passengers for injuries caused by their negligent driving. Recently, Mathys & Schneid filed a lawsuit on behalf of their client who was seriously injured as a passenger in a single-car crash. The lawsuit named the driver of the car as the defendant, and the matter is pending in Kendall County. For more information, please see our blog post on the case.
