Christmas Day Crash Injures 5

On December 25, 2017, two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision at the 13000 block of Galena Road in Little Rock Township. The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office released an online statement explaining that Savaughn Strickland, from Aurora, was westbound on Galena Road when his Chevrolet Trailblazer crossed over the center dividing line and collided head-on with another Trailblazer, driven by 80 year-old Janice Armstrong, also from Aurora.

The Sheriff’s Office stated that Armstrong was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Her passenger, Cassie Armstrong, 55, was transported to Good Samaritan by ambulance in critical condition. Two of Strickland’s passengers, Douglas Duffy, 58, and Ashley Robinson, 27, were both taken to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora in critical condition. A third passenger, 8, was taken to Valley West Hospital in Sandwich.

Strickland himself was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in critical condition. He was cited for improper lane usage, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving on a revoked license, and failure to reduce speed.

If you happen to be injured in a car crash, it’s important to have an experienced attorney protect you and fight the insurance companies. It’s also important to have sufficient uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage (UM/UIM) on your own car insurance policy, just in case you’re involved in a crash with someone who has little to no insurance available. For more information about UM/UIM coverage, please see our blog post on the topic.
