Mark T. Schneid and Daniel R. Chaidez obtained a $300,000 recovery for our client who was injured in a motorcycle crash. On August 20, 2015, our client was riding his 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a driver of an oncoming van made a left turn directly into our client, striking his left leg. After the impact, our client lost control of his motorcycle and struck a nearby mailbox. He sustained a left leg fracture that required surgery as well as broken teeth.
Mathys & Schneid filed a lawsuit in DuPage County, Illinois and the van’s insurance company was immediately forced to defend. The insurance company tried to argue that the van’s driver was blinded by the sun and didn’t see the motorcycle, and that the motorcycle was speeding. Mathys & Schneid researched cases with similar facts and injuries, and successfully settled the case for $300,000.
Mathys & Schneid is proud that we were able to secure a favorable recovery for our client and that we forced the insurance company to accept responsibility for its driver. Our client was also able to completely focus on his medical treatment because he knew Mathys & Schneid would handle the rest.
