Where your injury case is all that matters

Personal injury claims for anesthesia errors

Most surgical errors do not have anything to do with the surgeon's activities. Operating room errors are more likely to arise in relation to the activities of the anesthesiologist in charge of putting you to sleep for the duration of your procedure.

Both anesthesiologists and certified nurse anesthetists take on the responsibility of making sure you will survive the use of very powerful anesthesia drugs -- drugs that will put you into a deep sleep and affect your ability to breathe. If too much anesthesia is used, the patient might never wake up again. If too little anesthesia is used, the patient could wake up in the middle of the operation and experience excruciating and trauma-inducing pain.

At the Law Offices of Mathys & Schneid, we have represented plaintiffs in a wide variety of anesthesia error claims. We have found that in a large number of these cases, the anesthesia errors occurred because the treating anesthesiologist failed to appropriately review the patient's medical history and/or appropriately assess potential risks. Some of the most common risks, for example, might include whether the patient recently ingested food and/or whether there are any drugs in the patient's system. The patient might also suffer a serious injury if the anesthesiology staff fails to adequately monitor him or her after the drugs have been administered.

At the Law Offices of Mathys & Schneid, we have over 30 years of combined experience representing plaintiffs in personal injury claims. During this time, we have developed an in-depth understanding of the kinds of facts, evidence and legal strategies required to prevail in a medical malpractice lawsuit. If you feel you have been injured by a medical doctor, we are available to assist you in your claims.
