On December 15, 2015, at approximately 9:27 a.m., a 20 year-old Aurora man was critically injured when he was struck by another vehicle in Sugar Grove. Police say the crash occurred on westbound Galena Boulevard at Route 56 when the Aurora man’s Toyota Yaris became disabled, requiring him to get out of his vehicle to push it. At that time, an 18 year-old Aurora man also traveling westbound on Galena Boulevard struck the Yaris and its driver.
The 20 year-old Aurora man was airlifted from the scene to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he remains in critical condition. Police are still investigating the incident, but early indications are that no drugs or alcohol were involved. The 18 year-old was charged with driving without a license and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Mathys & Schneid recently settled a claim on behalf of a pedestrian who was hit by a car and suffered injuries to her neck, head, and shoulder that ultimately required surgery to repair her rotator cuff. Mathys & Schneid filed a lawsuit in that case after the defendant’s insurance company failed to cooperate. After filing the lawsuit, the insurance company agreed to settle the matter for $200,000.00.
