What if I didn't wear a motorcycle helmet during my accident?

Different states have different laws that apply to motorcycle riders and the need to wear a helmet. In the state of Illinois, motorcyclists must utilize a Department of Transportation approved helmet or risk getting a citation for violating state helmet laws. That said, not everyone uses a helmet and -- for whatever reason may be applicable to your particular motorcycle accident case -- maybe you were not wearing one when your collision occurred.

Aurora Man Struck by Car in Sugar Grove

On December 15, 2015, at approximately 9:27 a.m., a 20 year-old Aurora man was critically injured when he was struck by another vehicle in Sugar Grove. Police say the crash occurred on westbound Galena Boulevard at Route 56 when the Aurora man's Toyota Yaris became disabled, requiring him to get out of his vehicle to push it. At that time, an 18 year-old Aurora man also traveling westbound on Galena Boulevard struck the Yaris and its driver.

Consumers be warned: Your hoverboard could be very dangerous

A popular Christmas item this year is the "hoverboard," a small two-wheeled transportation device. It essentially consists of a horizontal plank with just enough room for your feet to stand on. Two battery-powered wheels on either side of the plank then propel you to your destination. The item has grown in popularity this year, but many people are complaining about accident dangers. The units are also spontaneously catching on fire.

New rules prevent truckers from coerced safety violations

Trucking companies seek to make a profit just like any other kind of business. However, that motive can cause them to sidestep safety rules and endanger their drivers. In fact, many trucking companies are actually guilty of coercing their drivers to violate federal trucking safety rules via threats, bonuses, punishments and other forms of manipulation. Fortunately, the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has created a new rule to prevent this kind of dangerous coercion.

  4. "Easy to talk to"

Mr. Mathys and Mr. Schneid were very professional and easy to talk to. Prior to working with them, my wife and I had no real experience with the legal system beyond a house closing, yet Mr. Mathys and Mr. Schneid explained the whole process to us very well. I knew that whenever I had a concern about our case or the legal system in general I could call their office or send an email and receive answers the same day... -Larry

  7. "They went to bat for me"

Not long ago I was involved in a car accident where I was hit by a gravel truck at an intersection. They went to bat for me with the trucking company's insurance and got me a settlement. I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends. -Dan H.
