On Behalf of | Oct 29, 2015 | Pedestrian Accidents

A Bensenville woman was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the sidewalk on the 1000 block of West Irving Park Road in Bensenville, Illinois on October 23, 2015. Police say the driver of the truck was exiting the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot when the driver struck the woman. The truck then continued eastbound on Irving Park Road without stopping.

The woman, Modesta De La Rosa, 86, was rushed to Alexian Brothers Medical Center where she died shortly after being hit. On the following day, police located a vehicle matching the description of the one that hit De La Rosa and brought the driver in for questioning. No charges have been filed, and the driver’s name has not been released yet.

Mathys & Schneid recently settled a claim on behalf of a pedestrian who was hit by a car and suffered injuries to her neck, head, and shoulder that ultimately required surgery to repair her rotator cuff. Mathys & Schneid filed a lawsuit in that case after the defendant’s insurance company failed to cooperate. After filing the lawsuit, the insurance company agreed to settle the matter for a very favorable sum.
