Bartlett Woman Struck, Killed By Car

On Behalf of | Oct 2, 2015 | Pedestrian Accidents

A Bartlett woman was struck and killed on US Route 20 near Lambert Lane in Bartlett, Illinois on September 28, 2015. Police say the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. when the driver, headed east on US Route 20, struck the woman. It is unclear if the woman was crossing or walking alongside the street.

The woman, Usha Patel, 54, of Bartlett, was rushed to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin where she was pronounced dead. The Kane County Coroner’s Office concluded that Patel died from “multiple injuries” following the crash. Police are still trying to reconstruct the crash, but did confirm that toxicology samples were collected and sent to a forensics lab to see if alcohol or illicit drugs played a role in the crash.

Mathys & Schneid recently settled a claim on behalf of a pedestrian who was hit by a car and suffered injuries to her neck, head, and shoulder that ultimately required surgery to repair her rotator cuff. Mathys & Schneid filed a lawsuit in that case after the defendant’s insurance company failed to cooperate. After filing the lawsuit, the insurance company agreed to settle the matter for $200,000.00.
