Police investigation continues after fatal Illinois crash

A 54-year-old man died in a two-vehicle crash last Tuesday. The collision happened just outside of southwest suburban Peotone. According police, the victim was driving his Toyota Prius in Will County at the time of the crash.

The accident happened at approximately 5:45 p.m. Illinois State Police say that the deceased man's Prius was T-boned by a Lincoln Continental close to West Offner Road and Route 45. The Prius driver was pronounce dead by emergency responders at the crash site at 7:05 p.m. An autopsy was scheduled for the following Wednesday by the coroner's office.

The identity of the crash victim was publicly released, but the identity of the Lincoln driver is still being kept confidential. However, Illinois state troopers did reveal that the Lincoln driver was transported to Silver Cross Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. No other injuries or deaths were reported regarding the crash.

Police are continuing their investigation of this fatal accident, and will release more information when they have something more conclusive to offer the public.

Police investigations following a fatal accident are particularly important for family members of the deceased. This is because the information revealed in police investigations can play a vital role in the pursuit of a wrongful death action relating to the crash.

Although no amount of wrongful death litigation can ever bring back a loved one lost in a fatal crash, the pursuit of such an action often plays an important role in the grieving and healing process for family members. It can also help them financially, particularly if the individual lost was a primary contributor to family income and the family is now suffering to make ends meet.

Mr. Mathys and Mr. Schneid were very professional and easy to talk to. I knew that whenever I had a concern about our case or the legal system in general I could call their office or send an email and receive answers the same day... -Larry

Not long ago I was involved in a car accident where I was hit by a gravel truck at an intersection.
