A hit and run accident claimed the life of a New Lenox man one day after he was injured while riding his motorcycle in Lockport on September 15, 2015.
Robert Haag, 35, was pronounced dead Tuesday at 6:57 p.m. at Silver Cross Hospital. Haag was the driver of a motorcycle headed northbound on State Street near 8th Street Monday, when a vehicle turned in front of him from southbound State Street. Haag lost control of his motorcycle while trying to avoid the car. He fell off the motorcycle and possibly struck the rear passenger side of the car.
The vehicle, described by witnesses as a light-colored four door sedan, left the scene eastbound on 8th Street. The driver of the car was described as a middle-aged male with dark hair.
Even though the crash was caused by a hit and run driver, a civil money recovery would still be possible for the motorcyclist’s family through the Uninsured Motorist Coverage insurance benefit with his insurance company.
Mark T. Schneid recently obtained a $1,250,000 settlement in Will County for our client who was injured in a motorcycle crash when a mini-van pulled out in front of the motorcycle and forced the rider to lay down the motorcycle and slide into the minivan.
