Soldier in medically-induced coma after motorcycle crash

A soldier from Plainfield, Illinois, is in a medically induced coma as doctors work to save his life following a motorcycle accident. The man was on his way to work -- he does IT work for Aldi in their corporate offices -- and he was riding his motorcycle when he crashed into a pickup truck.

The police have not yet said who was at fault in the wreck, as the investigation is ongoing.

Needless to say, the man did not fare well in the collision with the much larger vehicle. He suffered serious burns, internal bleeding on his brain and lacerations of his kidneys, spleen and liver. There is also significant bleeding from those organs, he has numerous other injuries and the doctors have been forced to keep him in the coma for his own well-being.

One witness to the wreck said that the man talked about only one thing after the accident, while he was lying on the ground and before he had been given treatment: his mother. He said that his mother had a heart attack at some point in the past, and it made it so that she couldn't work. He was the sole provider for the family, and he was concerned that his condition would make it so he couldn't help her.

Now, a public fundraising site is being used to raise money for the man to help with his bills. He doesn't get complete coverage from the military since he was hurt while not on active duty.

Those who suffer injuries like this can have nearly insurmountable bills, and so they need to know if they can get compensation.
