Mathys & Schneid Announces Record $1.131 Million Settlement for Car Accident

On Behalf of | Jul 17, 2015 | Car Accidents

Mark W. Mathys recently secured $1.131 million for a client who sustained a herniated disc injury in a rear-end car crash. The settlement is the largest in DuPage County’s history for a spine injury not resulting in paralysis.

The crash happened on October 18, 2011 when the firm’s client was rear-ended by a driver changing lanes while on a cell phone. The client, who had no history of neck or back pain, was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital for immediate treatment. After diagnosis of the spine injury, and several rounds of conservative treatment, the client required surgery.

Mathys & Schneid filed a lawsuit in DuPage County to recover damages for the client. The defendant’s insurance company fought back, claiming that our client was not as injured as she claimed. Mathys & Schneid litigated and prepared for trial by creating innovative computer animations and customized digital exhibits. These advanced imaging techniques would prove the client’s injuries at trial, but the insurance company agreed to settle the day before trial was scheduled to begin.

If you, or anyone you know, were injured in a car accident, you should contact a personal injury attorney as quickly as possible to protect your interests. Your attorney will be able to help you recover compensation for your injuries from either the at-fault driver’s insurance company or through your own insurance company through uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage. Additionally, your attorney will help protect against any possible destruction of key evidence from your case.

The Law Offices of Mathys & Schneid continues to handle all types of truck, car, and motorcycle accident cases, along with wrongful death and other personal injury cases for clients in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Will, and Kendall Counties, including Chicago, Wheaton, Joliet, Geneva, Elgin, and the entire Chicagoland area.
