Can your landlord ignore maintenance requests?

If you're a renter in Illinois, your house has to be habitable. If you see something dangerous—like an exposed wire in a socket or a broken railing on a balcony—your landlord has to make the repairs quickly after you report the problem. Otherwise, you could be injured and sue, blaming the landlord for the accident. However, you should know that it is your landlord's right to ignore you in some instances, not making repairs, even if you request it.

Items in the car become dangerous projectiles in a crash

If you're in a car accident in Illinois, you may have to worry about more than just the other car. There's also a good chance that some of the items in your car could turn into dangerous and potentially deadly projectiles during the wreck. If these strike you, they could do as much damage as anything else. This is especially true since you have your car's safety features -- airbags, seat belts and more -- working for you, but nothing is there to protect you from whatever you put in your car.

Immediate steps to take after you are attacked by a dog

If you were attacked by a dog, the first thing you need to do is call the police and seek immediate medical attention. The police and animal control are in a position to investigate the attack and safely remove the dog if it is likely to cause further harm to others. Obtain a copy of the report and the information of the dog owner. Also, take photographs of the dog (if possible) and of your injuries to preserve any bite marks or scarring which may occur.
