What you should know about Illinois distracted driving laws

Since January 1, 2014, Illinois banned the use of all hand-held devices while driving. Hands-free technology is permitted, including bluetooth, headsets and speakerphones. Also, if you are stopped in normal traffic and your vehicle is in neutral or park, it is permissible to use an electronic device. Other exceptions for permitted use of cell phones include reporting an emergency situation and continued communication with emergency personnel.

A motorcycle crash in Des Plaines has left a 21 year-old man in critical condition. The crash occurred on April 29, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the intersection of Golf Road and Mount Prospect Road when a minivan turned left in front of the motorcycle.

A young man from Ukraine was riding his motorcycle through Highland Park when he was involved in an accident with a car. There were three people in that car, and they all escaped without any injuries. However, the motorcyclist was killed. He was just 21 years old.
