Where your injury case is all that matters

Why do commercial trucks crash in Illinois?

Of course, trucks in Illinois can crash for many different reasons, so it is impossible to pin down why all accidents occur. However, it is worthwhile to look at some of the main reasons for accidents to understand both how these crashes take place and what rights you may have to financial compensation if you are involved in a truck accident.

For example, some accidents are caused by drivers who just do not have enough training or experience to avoid mistakes. Driving a commercial vehicle is not the same as driving a passenger car, and new drivers may make errors that those with better training or more time behind the wheel could avoid.

One of the biggest things, though, is just how the system is set up for some drivers. They may be offered payment based on how many miles they cover in a trip or based on how many shipments they can do. What this means is that drivers are rewarded for getting more done in less time -- and some drivers are willing to take risks or even break the law to try to earn more.

Examples of these risks include breaking the speed limit, driving aggressively, continuing to drive in bad weather and driving even when rest is needed. Not all systems work like this, but some drivers feel that they have no way to increase their earnings but to drive in a manner that is distinctly dangerous.

If you have been involved in a truck accident and you are facing medical bills as a result, make sure you know how your rights work regarding compensation, depending on the reason for the crash.

Not long ago I was involved in a car accident where I was hit by a gravel truck at an intersection. They went to bat for me with the trucking company's insurance and got me a settlement. I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends. -Dan H.
