Where your injury case is all that matters

Truck driving in wrong lane crashes in Illinois, killing 2 nuns

A pickup truck in Illinois drove in the wrong lane on the way through an intersection, slamming into 11 cars that were stopped at a red light. A still image of the truck just before the crash shows it coming directly toward the vehicles. Among those who were killed in the accident were two nuns in one of the first vehicles to be hit.

The accident happened in Oak Lawn, Illinois, at the intersection where 95th Street and Cicero Avenue come together. The truck was coming down 95th Street, going west, when it slammed into vehicles in the eastbound lanes.

All in all, 23 people had to be treated for their injuries. Two of them are said to be in critical condition. Those two were transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, while the others who needed medical attention were transported to both Little Company of Mary Hospital and Palos Community Hospital.

One of the nuns who passed away was 86 years old, and the other was 48 years old.

Emergency responders could not believe how many vehicles had been involved in the crash. They described the scene as both violent and bizarre, saying that people who needed help were both inside and outside of vehicles. One person who spoke to the media said he hadn't seen anything like it in the last 30 years that he had spent working in the profession.

People who have been injured in motor vehicle wrecks in Illinois could face high medical bills as they recover, and they should know what rights they have to compensation after the crash.

Mr. Mathys and Mr. Schneid were very professional and easy to talk to. I knew that whenever I had a concern about our case or the legal system in general I could call their office or send an email and receive answers the same day... -Larry

  7. "They went to bat for me"

Not long ago I was involved in a car accident where I was hit by a gravel truck at an intersection. After I called Mathys & Schneid, even though I didn't have a very large case, they made me feel like I was one of their most important cases. They went to bat for me with the trucking company's insurance and got me a settlement. I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends. -Dan H.
