One person is dead and others are injured after a serious car accident in Illinois. The accident took place on Route 251. It was close to the point where Route 251 and Ben Samek Road — which is also known as Bottom Road –come together. Reports show that the crash happened right around seven in the morning.
The police said that the one person who passed away was dead at the crash site, before this person could be taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police have said that one vehicle, which was being driven by a woman who is 60 years old, was heading north. Another vehicle, which was being driven by a man who was 57 years old, was coming from the opposite direction, heading south on the same stretch of roadway. Another vehicle was following it.
The first vehicle then drifted into the wrong lane. The first two cars collided, and the driver who had been struck was killed. The car then barreled on and slammed into the third vehicle, as well. The driver of that first car was, at last reports, in the hospital, with her condition listed as critical.
The police are still investigating the crash to see why the first car ended up in the wrong lane to begin with.
When lives are lost in car accidents, the family members who are left behind need to know what legal rights they have. These could include the right to compensation, for example, for things like future wages that are lost and the medical expenses from the rescue effort.
