Why You Should Not Trust The Insurance Adjuster

When you are injured in a car accident, or have any other injury incident, very soon after your injury an "Insurance Adjuster" will try to call you and send you letters.  You do not have to talk to any insurance adjuster and there are several reasons why you should not trust the insurance adjuster.  Your safest move after being injured is to contact an experienced personal injury attorney to help you avoid making any mistakes with the insurance adjuster.

An insurance adjuster is a person who works for the insurance company that provides insurance coverage for the person that caused your injury.  The insurance adjuster cares about the insurance company's money but does not care about your fair recovery.  The insurance adjuster's job is to pay you off and settle your case for as little as possible before you speak with a personal injury attorney. Sometimes the adjuster will try to get you to settle for as little as $500.

The insurance adjuster will ask to interview you by telephone.  Everything you say to the insurance adjuster about your crash and your injuries will be recorded by the insurance company and used against you later in your case.  Do not give any information to the insurance adjuster because it will only hurt your case.

The insurance adjuster will also ask you to sign a medical records authorization that lets the insurance company get copies of your medical records.  Never sign a medical records authorization for the insurance adjuster.  That will only be used to hurt your case and help the insurance company blame your pain and limitations on something they can dig up in your medical records from 10-20 years ago.

Insurance adjusters may also tell you that the insurance company will pay you for the medical bills you incurred from the incident.  The truth is the insurance company will ONLY pay for your medical bills IF you agree to sign a release and waive your right to collect any other money in the future for damages such as: lost wages, pain and suffering, loss of normal life, disfigurement, etc.  The insurance adjuster will only pay the medical bills if the entire case is settled.

Before you sign any documents of any kind for the insurance adjuster or the other person's insurance company, you should contact an experienced personal injury lawyer for a free consultation.
