A Premises Liability lawsuit was filed by Law Offices of Mathys & Schneid on behalf of a woman who was seriously injured when she was caused to fall due to dangerous potholes at a train station parking lot.
On April 7, 2014, our client was returning from work in Chicago and just got off a Metra train at the Route 59 Train Station in Aurora. The suit alleges that our client was walking towards her car that was parked in the southeast parking lot when she had to navigate dozens of large potholes along with loose gravel on top of the parking lot surface. This dangerous condition caused her to trip and fall to the ground and resulted in a very serious fracture of both bones in her forearm. She required immediate surgery with the implantation of hardware in her arm to keep her bones together.
There are several security cameras located throughout the parking lot but there apparently is no video footage from that area of the parking lot on the day of this incident.
The southeast parking lot at the Route 59 train station has been a safety concern for commuters for quite some time. Shortly after this incident, some of the potholes were patched but no permanent corrective measures have been taken yet.
