Mark W. Mathys from Law Offices of Mathys & Schneid obtained a $750,000 recovery for the family of a client who was a victim of medical malpractice. Doctors at Dreyer Medical Group in Aurora failed to diagnose a rare fungal infection in our client, a 47 year old woman. As a result of their failure to timely diagnose and treat this fungal infection, the infection slowly destroyed our client’s lung tissue requiring it to be surgically removed. Unfortunately, the surgery did not successfully stop the infection from spreading and our client ultimately died of respiratory failure two years later.
Mathys & Schneid filed a lawsuit in Kane County, Illinois against the Dreyer Medical Group. The medical group and its insurance company vigorously defended the case for over 5 years. Through their tenaciousness as well as retaining well-respected medical experts to testify on their client’s behalf, Mathys & Schneid secured the $750,000 settlement shortly before trial was to begin.
Mathys & Schneid is proud that we were able to recover this favorable settlement for our client’s family. Although the money will not bring their wife and mother back, the family found consolation and closure when the doctors were finally forced to accept responsibility for their negligent actions.
Mathys & Schneid continues to represent victims of medical malpractice and their families in Cook, DuPage, Will, Kane and all surrounding counties. For more information about doctors or hospitals misdiagnosing or failing to diagnose others, please click here to see our video.
