Woman sues Bayer for selling dangerous product after coma

Many Illinois residents rely on Alka-Seltzer to help eliminate their cold and cough symptoms, but one woman says that the medication caused such severe side effects that she was in a coma for 31 days. The victim, who purchased the dangerous product in January 2013, said she was seeking relief from her cold symptoms, so she took the Alka-Selzer product before going to bed. She says she developed a serious reaction that started with blisters in her mouth and led to a horrific coma and illness that left her with much of her skin missing.

The Illinois Workers' Compensation Act provides that an employer is liable to pay for medical services initially chosen by the employee and any subsequent provider of medical services in the chain of referrals. The employer is also liable to pay for all medical services provided by a second physician chosen by the employee and any subsequent provider of medical services in the chain of referrals.

Woman claims medical malpractice after fake cancer treatment

An Illinois woman is seeking financial damages for medical malpractice after a physician reportedly lied to her about a medical condition and gave her unapproved drugs. How Can I Protect Myself From Medical Malpractice in Hospitals?

A recent study published in the Journal of Patient Safety found that 440,000 people die EVERY YEAR after suffering medical errors in U.S. hospitals.  That's over 1,000 people dying every day as a result of medical malpractice and is the nation's third leading cause of death, trailing only heart disease and cancer.  And these numbers don't even include people who die from medical malpractice outside the hospital setting.

$750,000 Recovery For Medical Malpractice Victim in Kane County

Mark W. Mathys from Law Offices of Mathys & Schneid obtained a $750,000 recovery for the family of a client who was a victim of medical malpractice.  Doctors at Dreyer Medical Group in Aurora failed to diagnose a rare fungal infection in our client, a 47 year old woman.  As a result of their failure to timely diagnose and treat this fungal infection, the infection slowly destroyed our client's lung tissue requiring it to be surgically removed.  Unfortunately, the surgery did not successfully stop the infection from spreading and our client ultimately died of respiratory failure two years later.

The Danger of Aged Tires- Product Liability

A common product liability issue is the danger caused by car and truck tires that are aged 5 years or more.  Tires, like any other rubber product, have a limited service life regardless of the amount of tread depth left and regardless of how much you used the tire.  Tire manufacturers have known for decades that tires become dangerous as they age past 5 years.  After 5 years, the tire becomes vulnerable to having a tread separation blow out failure that can cause a driver to lose all control of the car, SUV or truck and have an accident.  As tires age, they deteriorate internally but usually no damage or problems can be seen by looking at the outside of the tire.
