Woman claims wrongful pregnancy after surgical error debacle

A woman whose botched tubal ligation led to an unexpected pregnancy is seeking financial compensation from the physician who indirectly caused her pregnancy. The Illinois woman had sought the procedure after deciding not to have any more children. The woman and her husband are both sickle cell trait carriers, and her new daughter was born with sickle cell disease. News reports show that the woman is livid about the surgical errors that led to her latest pregnancy.

Chicago Blue Line train derails, climbs escalator at O'Hare station

The team at the Law Offices of Mathys & Schneid is following news of a Chicago train derailment that resulted in 32 injuries this morning. Media reports indicate that a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line left the tracks at the O'Hare Airport station at about 2:50 a.m. It climbed up an escalator at end of the tracks. Photos of the accident show the end of a train car resting midway up the escalator, with debris scattered below.

Auto defects blamed for deaths, automaker criticized for recall

As more information emerges about the failure of General Motors to conduct an appropriate recall of thousands of defective vehicles, owners throughout Illinois and other states are expressing their satisfaction that they finally got the automaker's attention. Problems with many vehicles' ignition systems had caused serious problems for drivers throughout the region. Further, estimates show that hundreds of people may have died because of the severe auto defects.

Widow files suit for fatal truck accident on Illinois tollway

The wife of a man who perished in a fiery collision on an Illinois tollway in January plans to pursue legal action against the truck driver who caused the accident. The woman is also suing the employer of the man who caused the truck accident. Attorneys for the woman and her family say that something has to be done to stop reckless truck drivers who disobey mandates designed to prevent truck driver fatigue.

Illinois officer faces ongoing litigation for 2004 car accident

An Illinois civil suit related to a September 2004 crash has been remanded to trial court after consideration by a higher judicial body. The suit is related to a car accident that occurred on Route 67 near Macomb, Illinois, according to official reports. A higher court has sent the case back to trial because defense attorneys may have misled jurors during the initial proceedings.
