Alcohol use suspected in Plainfield U.S. 30 crash

Illinois State Police are pursuing evidence that drunk driving was the cause of a Sunday morning car accident in Plainfield. Tests will determine whether alcohol played a part in the two-vehicle crash that sent the drivers of both vehicles and two teenage passengers to the hospital.

Police say crash spree caused by drunk, possibly drugged driving

Wheaton police are withholding the name of a Downers Grove woman who allegedly went on a car-wrecking spree on and near Interstates 290 and 355. Illinois State Police expect the woman to be charged drunk driving and several other offenses.

New Illinois law makes passenger seat belts mandatory

A new state traffic law went into effect with the first of the year requiring all motor vehicle passengers in Illinois to wear a seat belt regardless of age or where they are located in the vehicle. Law enforcement officials believe the new seat belt rule will save lives.

State says Carbondale man left Wheaton crash victim to die

A downstate driver is charged with walking away from the scene of a fatal car accident in Wheaton, according to the DuPage County state attorney. The 21-year-old allegedly abandoned an injured and dying passenger and returned to a party where the two had been, without ever reporting the car accident.
