Wrongful death suit filed against estate of suicidal Aurora man

According to police in Lisle and the county medical examiner's office, a fatal car accident last summer was caused by an Aurora man who wanted to take his own life. Three people died and one person was disabled by accident injuries as a result of the Aug. 6 head-on collision in Lisle.

Family members of three people hurt and killed in the car crash recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit. Relatives of the occupants of a car hit by the suicidal driver are suing the estate of the man authorities believe purposely caused the accident.

Lisle police say the man who wilfully caused the fatal crash pushed his Porsche above the speed limit as he was traveling along Interstate 88. The driver slipped into an emergency turnaround on the highway and drove head-on into traffic coming in the opposite direction.

The Porsche struck a Toyota Corolla, instantly killing a 75-year-old male passenger. A 38-year-old female occupant, the wife of the driver, was critically injured and later died from the injuries she received in the crash. The Corolla's driver was the female victim's 42-year-old husband. He survived but received disabling injuries.

Authorities say the 43-year-old Porsche driver was charged with two counts of reckless homicide. The driver lived for one month following the accident without ever regaining consciousness. The medical examiner's office declared the death a suicide; the brain disorder, Huntington's Disease, was listed as a secondary factor.

The wrongful death suit against the Aurora man's estate seeks a minimum of $50,000 each for the elderly man and the couple who were occupants in the Toyota Corolla.
