Distracted Driving Deadly, But Alcohol Still Worse

In recent months, distracted driving - driving while using a cell phone, GPS device or other electronic device - has received a great deal of attention as a leading cause of serious motor vehicle accidents. And while leading studies indicate that distracted driving is, in fact, dangerous, a new study from the U.S. Transportation Department indicates that drinking and driving is still a more serious threat.

Wrongful death suit filed against estate of suicidal Aurora man

According to police in Lisle and the county medical examiner's office, a fatal car accident last summer was caused by an Aurora man who wanted to take his own life. Three people died and one person was disabled by accident injuries as a result of the Aug. 6 head-on collision in Lisle.

Couple dies in crash, woman pleads guilty to DUI

A chain reaction motor vehicle accident, caused by distracted driving ended with the death of a pair of motorcyclists in Kane County. Although police say she was not impaired while driving, the Aurora driver blamed for the fatal motorcycle crash recently pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI.

Illinois driver in fatal holiday crash gets 8 years

A woman, who caused a Christmas Eve car crash last year that permanently disabled an Illinois man and killed his parents, will go to prison for eight years. Sentencing for charges surrounding the fatal car accident also requires the convicted driver to pay restitution of more than $72,000.

Sentencing delayed in speeding crash that killed 4

An Algonquin man, charged with killing four friends while driving drunk and speeding, has waited more than four years to find out his fate. The 29-year-old pleaded guilty in October 2010 to charges of reckless homicide for a car crash that took place in September 2007.
