Naperville motorcycle accident leaves woman injured

On Behalf of | Oct 14, 2011 | Motorcycle Accidents

A motorcyclist was transported to a hospital for medical treatment after being involved in a traffic accident in Naperville, Illinois. The motorcycle crash occurred near the site of another recent crash, which left an elderly woman with severe injuries.

The accident happened outside of a restaurant as the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound, when a sport utility vehicle pulled out of the driveway of a nearby business. The motorcyclist was unable to dodge the vehicle, causing her to collide with its left front corner. The woman was badly injured in the crash, prompting emergency response personnel to transport her to a Naperville hospital to undergo surgery. The motorcyclist remains in the hospital, where she is listed in serious condition. Both vehicles suffered considerable damage, requiring them to be towed away from the crash site.

According to a sergeant with the Naperville police, the 52-year-old driver of the SUV was not injured, but was issued a citation for failure to see the motorcyclist and yield the right of way accordingly. Additional charges have not been filed pending the results of the police’s investigation into the accident.

The accident marked the second recent crash in the area. The first occurred when a 77-year-old woman was struck by car not far from the site of the second wreck. The woman sustained serious injuries in the crash. Police say the woman was either walking or standing in the eastbound lane of the street at the time of the accident.
